Smith encapsules the republican tactics: "This is the tactic Karl Rove learned so well from his right-wing predecessors: accuse your opponent of your own unethical or illegal acts." Attack their strengths, and blow smoke over your crimes. The article includes some interesting history of Republican attempts at suppressing the vote, and the still effective court order. Why is the court order not enforced? The key point is the journalistic ethics that are being ignored by much of the big corporate media in their complicit coverage of this story.
