Fascinating interview with Council on Foreign Relations fellow Edward Alden about the connection between counter-terrorism and immigration policy. He makes a reasonable argument that the U.S. government may have overreacted in using immigration law as a counter-terrorism tool, with nearly 40,000 people detained on immigration violations, many of whom spend "months in jail with no real due process, awaiting deportation." This is an important issue, which has not been covered adequately, because it is such a controversial topic in today's America.
