McCain, Obama seek to avoid fray on immigration

Just a year ago, immigration was a volatile political issue that consumed Congress and ignited passions among Americans on both sides of the debate.

These days the presidential candidates barely mention the topic on the campaign trail.

It's a good round-up story, summarizes the candidates' stance and prior statements. It would have been more interesting if Obama and McCain spokespersons could have gone on record about this.
