Voters want solutions as health insurance costs rise sharply

Working two jobs isn’t exactly the way Dave Coffman envisioned his retirement.

But that’s how it’s turning out.

“I’m working basically because of health care,” said Coffman, 62, a retired school principal who lives with his wife in Lee’s Summit.

A balanced look at both candidates' health care plans framed by real-life stories of local people from the Kansas City area. Including first-hand accounts at the article's beginning and end further drive the point home that this issue really affects people's lives, giving it context and relevance. One of the most telling quotations from the piece: “'I never once thought about health insurance before I retired,' Coffman said. Now it’s never far from his mind." Both families featured are retired or near to it; as the baby boomers begin to retire in droves soon, will the health care problem finally see some solutions?
