The traditional media's first reaction to satirist Stephen Colbert's uncomfortably harsh mockery of President Bush and the press corps at Saturday night's White House Correspondents Association dinner was largely to ignore it.

This editorial column does a great job in pointing out how a monolithic perspective presented in the mainstream media hides by neglect perspectives that may be common in other media sources, and it uses myriad quotes to support its thesis. I found this media survey particularly interesting, considering how hysterically funny I personally found Colbert's routine to be.

1. Somethingin graph 3 seems dismissive of the liberal side of the blogosphere. 2. The quote of Moraes makes it sound as though Jon Stewart thinks Colbert was stupid. Full disclosure, I think the media should be taken out and shot for the way it collapsed in front of this administration, BUT Colbert's performance really was lazy.

The author rightly points out the mainstream media's striking disregard of Stephen Cobert's biting and gutsy mockery of President Bush at the White House Correspondent's dinner. It appears the Internet disagrees with old media. Colbert's performance is one of most viewed items in major video sharing sites like You Tube (several million views already, after only a couple days).

Excellent journalist quality, but more important is the fact that he had the "courage" to cover it! The way the media as a whole avoided it, especially network & cable news, one would think the plague was about to descend on them if they "mentioned" it. Hats off to fearless Dan! Outstanding job.
