New media feels heat after Apple misstep

Oakland, Calif. - A promo for CNN's citizen journalism site, iReport.com, reads: "You won't believe what people are uploading." Maybe readers should take that literally.

A journalist requirement before reporting a story is that all facts must be checked and confirmed. This story failed to meet that requirement.

A pretty ordinary story except for one howler: the author quotes Henry Blodget on how he handled a story with stock-market implications -- without noting that Blodget was the key figure in a stock-market scandal in the late 1990s.
