I think the reporter is right in his assumption in what it mean if we/NATO gave up in Afganistan. All militant groups than be Sunni or Shia will band together against first of all to India but also Israel, USA and then Europe. In Europe there are already many Muslims, and they are much less intergrated in there than here. The most scary scenario would be if those groups get their hands on Pakistan's nuclear weapons. Both in the Pakistani army as well as their intelligence agency, there are a lot of sympathy for the Talibans. The article could have 'gone' a bit deeper into the threat and why it's important to succeed in Afganistan, not necessarly to 'build' a democratic country, but make her secure for being a terrorist haven.
