Palin gives more to charity than Biden

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin made considerably less money than rival Sen. Joe Biden, but the Palin family gave more to charity in the last two years than Biden has in the last eight combined, according to Palin's tax records released Friday afternoon.

Palin, the running mate of presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), and her husband Todd reported meager earnings from 2006 and 2007, at least by presidential-politics standards. Full Story »

There's not enough detail to tell anything useful about Palin or Biden, since the type of charities receiving their donations are not specified. Too many "charities" are essentially political, though not necessarily in the sense of being related to political parties.

This short news report has journalistic merit. It provides facts of considerable interest to the public. It is objective in the presentation. It would have rated higher if the same information had been presented for the two Presidential candidates.

Palin could be cheating, for all we know. We DO know she lied over and over and over about her support for "The infamous Bridge to Nowhere." She also told investigators in Alaska she would cooperate about her possible "abuse of power," but now she has reneged on that too. How can we trust her?
