This may be an important story, however this article is too one-sided and opaque in it's coverage. The only quoted source is the president of the organization that published the article!

this account of one of the arrests during the republican convention is chilling in its implications for our country. the patriot act clearly can be used to suppress demonstrations, protests or any gathering not deemed desirable by any local or other government, which was fearfully forecast precisely when the act was made into law. Perhaps this case will begin the process of changing it. i wish there had been more information in here regarding other scenarios about what and how this happened.

This item is a press release, thus its objectivity is immediately suspect. However if the facts that it presents are indeed facts, it publicizes legitimate issues.

America will just have to accept the fact that wherever there is a major party political convention or other event such as a G7 meeting that ordinary constitutional rights will be suspended and anything goes in terms of aggressive police action. Lawsuits will resolve in monetary damages many years later and no punishment other than a rebuke from the bench. The fines and awards will of course be taken from the public taxes.
