Posted by Julian FriedlandClassic Frank Rich. Moves through the week's events masterly connecting dots with mountains of supporting references and links. Paints a clear and damning picture of a badly flailing and desperate campaign ready to do whatever it takes to win no matter how low it needs to stoop. To me, it seems plausible that the GOP concocted the congressional rebellion so that McCain could be seen as the hero to save the bill. Strange that the rebellion only happened after McCain decided to fly to D.C. And if you missed the SNL opener, Tina Fey basically quotes Palin's Couric interview word for word. A comic masterpiece of realism: http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/
The opinion may seem biased but Rich provides a fact filled timeline of the last few weeks of the disaster that the McCain campaign has become providing links to the events and news coverage. Rich accurately points out the extreme and bizarre behavior of McCain. The separate events of the last few weeks when read as a whole, paints an ugly picture of a man who may influence the ruin of the "country even before being voted into the Oval Office."
Frank Rich rips John McCain to pieces for reckless grandstanding, and worse. I agree with Rich that McCain will stoop as low as necessary in his desperate effort to gain the White House, and the national interest be damned.
I love Frank Rich and wish there were more like him. I think the New York Times is finally starting to be more like they were were when they published "The Pentagon Papers." Not sure if the Washington Post is back to honest reporting. Rich shows just how terrible McCain has become, not that he was a very good man to begin with. He seems to be proud of his vicious temper and brags about how much of a maverick he is. If he voted against Bush 90% of the time, then he would be a maverick. I think he is stupid to begin with and all he seemingly understands is war and he is not very good about that either. Hypocrisy is his middle name. A man who lives like an oriental potentate supported by his wealthy wife has no business being ... More »
