This is what voters need: an unbiased look at the FACTS. FactCheck is a model of neutrality and calm in a heated, fast-paced, emotional period of news reporting. While it might be fun occasionally to ride the roller coaster of rumor, scandal and innuendo dished out daily by various news sources (and the candidates' camps), is this what news reporting should be about? There is so much info-tainment and distraction out there; however, only knowing the straight facts will assist an informed citizenry in choosing who to vote for. Seeing how FactCheck does get to the bottom of the distortion, perhaps for 2012, all candidates could agree to the following: Before any political ad is run, it must be run by the folks at FactCheck. If whatever the ad says is true, it will receive the "FactCheck Seal Of Approval" (I'm making this up, just writing hypothetically.) If the ad doesn't pass (i.e., it's riddled with falsehoods), then it doesn't run or it runs with a caveat: "This ad is full of lies." This would clean up the airways and help voters get access to the facts they need to make informed decisions. (You might call me a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.) Go, FactCheck!
