It is arguable that, because of his inexperience, Obama is not ready for the presidency. It is arguable that McCain, because of his boiling moralism and bottomless reservoir of certitudes, is not suited to the presidency. While Will is not alone in this assessment of McCain's character, he has supported his opinion with fairly limited evidence. In his summary, which is what I posted, he does raise an interesting question--which is more important for a president, experience or temperament? Bill Clinton recently addressed that question. He says nobody is ever really prepared to be president. Something always happens that you didn't anticipate. When it does, you need good advisers, the ability to listen well, the flexibility to chart a new course, and the intelligence to consider the facts and the advice and make the best decision.
