This report is narrow in scope and soources, with nothing new or nuanced. It concerns Obama's more diplomatic approach to foreign policy in the Middle East, mostly through an interview with his policy adviser Susan Rice. Excerpts; "Tough diplomacy would be used to curtail Iran's reach for nuclear capability." because he would "galvanize support from the international community." but covers his bases with "he has been clear that we cannot take any options off the table." Some of it, from Nazar Janabi, a Next Generation fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, sounds disingenuous; "withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq 'responsibly' is a very good idea." and "..that striking that balance without sacrificing some of the U.S. key interests..would be very difficult." The reason to believe Obama can overcome divisive global politics is that "Mr. Obama has a better image in the Middle East and is likely to be more credible to the audience there." and "carelessness and procrastination of the Bush administration makes it impossible for a Palestinian state"
