A 1992 video featuring a Republican senator, Republican congressman and top Capitol Hill staffers who worked on Vietnam prisoner of war and missing in action issues say John McCain collaborated with North Vietnamese while a POW, and then covered up that involvement to the detriment of POW/MIA families seeking access to classified Pentagon records about their own family members. It tells a story backed by credible sources that the mainstream media seems to have missed.

This 1992 videotape features interviews by a Republican senator, a Republican congressman, along with staff people who worked on Vietnam prisoner and MIA issues who accuse McCain of collaborating with North Vietnam while he was a prisoner, then covering up that involvement, thus blocking POW/MIA families from finding information from Pentagon records. Interestingly–true or false–the media have once more given McCain a free pass by completely ignored this aspect of his heroic prisoner-of-war experience.

Explosive allegations against McCain regarding his conduct as a POW. McCain has been less then supportive on some POW/MIA issues for a related (and I think superior) story read this article: http://www.thenation.com/doc/20081006/schanberg

The video of Republicans highly involved in searching out information about MIAs indicates Republican McCain adamantly blocked release of information and tapes of his collaboration with North VietNam. What is in the tapes? Why does McCain not want them released? What happens if he is held captive by the Neocons?

This report on the resurrection of a 1992 tape of "Republican stalwarts" like Dornan of California accusing McCain of trying to cover up his collaboration with North Vietnam sounds to me suspiciously like "swift boating". It is interesting to note that the much more elaborately sourced article in The Nation only accuses McCain of actively opposing the release of POW/MIA information. It states that the reason can only be guessed.

I'm hopeful (but not expecting) the mainstream media to pick up on this story and start checking this out. Certainly if the bogus Swift Boat ads merited media scrutiny in the last election, then these claims do, as well.

Yes, it exposes a potentially important problem. It's hard to imagine this being covered up for so long! What would McCain gain from doing so? What did he get out of collaborating with the DRV (if he in faact did)?
