The theme of this article is the effectiveness of the technique of fear–used whenever a group or movement wants its way. This is an era of great fear: fear promoted by special-interest disciples; fear promoted by government; but most importantly, growing fear in Americans, themselves, frightened of the great changes confronting them by the 21st century. Predictably, when confronted by change, people become frightened and make a vain attempt to return to what they think were the good old “safe” days as seen through their distortion-colored telescopes.
