Posted by Matisse EnzerInformative report about a recent AP-Yahoo poll by Knowledge Networks and Stanford University, which reveals troubling indications that 3 of 10 Democrats are unlikely to vote for Obama because he's black. I'd like to see more independent perspectives and other studies on this topic before making a judgment. But it certainly sounds like a reasonable analysis, which would explain why Obama is not further ahead in the polls. Like it or not, America still has a strong history of racism, and this type of bigotry can take generations to cure.
Story reports on a disturbing poll conducted by Stanford University that indicates 1/3 of white Democrats may not vote for Obama due to race and points out that this could be why the race is closer than it should be based on the unpopularity of the current administration. Interesting information is provided on how the poll was taken over the phone and computer where people tend to be more honest in their answers. It would be interesting to see if the study numbers could be broken down to different regions of the country to evaluate if bigotry is more prevalent in certain areas.
