Distortions and lies in McCain ad

With seven weeks to go until the November election, voters expect some hype, distortion and lies in campaign ads. One TV ad is particularly offensive because it is so purposefully misleading.

The short editorial focuses on one of the most offensive attack lie ads yet put out officially by the McCain twist and shout machine. Short, factual, and focused. Note it does not talk of negative ads, which might inform; but lying ads, which dis-inform.

This editorial is more than a critical assessment of McCain’s latest new low in his "respectable" campaign, it drips of indignation–and justifiably so. The ad is so outrageous that chances are good even Sammy and Sally Six-Pack will get it.

This opinion piece has minimal journalistic value. It is essentially an Obama campaign press release. There are three seperate actions by Obama on this issue, not just this one bill. The McCain campaign has pointed out the errors in Obama's comments on the issue, and this piece should have incorporated them if the authors wanted it to be considered as journalism.
