Be sure to read the discussion in the comments. It's very interesting too. I recently read a piece that said planners are also beginning to look at urban sprawl in terms of resource waste and transit access. Another article pointed out that, while far-out suburbs are losing the most in housing value, inner city properties are maintaining prices better--primarily because of their easy transit access.
