Seven years later

SEVEN YEARS have passed since a terrorist plot hatched in Taliban-ruled Afghanistan produced the atrocities of Sept. 11. Though lacking a bit in specificity on the problems and solutions, the editorial correctly frames the issue as needing a lot more intelligence and thought than Republican McCain bomb bomb bombing the rubble and innocent children so the US can win, win win; and Democratic candidate Obama building a position that seems only to favor military escalation into the same quagmire that defeated the British and the Russians. The Globe gets it right, but we need more on this topic.

I may disagree with certain things these editors want done in relation to Afghanistan, but I applaud their accurate, albeit truncated, descriptions of Obama's and McCain's views on the matter. I also admire the thoughtful, clear arguments they make for their recommendations and the specificity of their criticisms of both candidates' positions.
