I read the Kilkenny letter about a week ago on a listserv. At the time, I wondered many of the same things: Is this from a real person? Are the things she says true? As a News Trust member, and with some of my own online research, I was able to verify much of what the letter said. Now I have an answer to the first question too. One other point was also true, Palin was unknown outside Alaska. And, unlike the New York Times, few people read the Anchorage press. So people were hungry for real information.
