The article deals with the challenge Iran as a nuclear power would mean to the region as a whole. The Arab states could favour some alliance which includes Israel, a surprising new scenario. Michael Slackman sees Iran as a major threat and does not seem to expect successful negotiations that would result in some security treaty with Iran.

The article suggests acceptability of a military option in at least some Middle East countries. I fear the bias of Michael Slackman's article will encourage those who favour some U.S. attack against Iran and discard serious talks.

I favor getting the job done now instead of living the rest of my life with a nuclear hegemony in the region that Iran would like to impose.
