They make the McCain campaign seem incredibly devious and smart. If only it were so. The mainstream media support Democrats. That's well-known and quite obvious. So why wouldn't the Republicans attack them? The McCain campaign by keeping Palin quiet while the media attacked for several days gave the media enough rope to hang themselves. But I doubt it was a plot. They were probably busy preparing her for the convention. Obviously the clip repeated lies without correction, such as the one that she was a member of the Alaska Independence Party.
