I trust Jon Stewart as a comedian AND as a journalist because he often lets his subjects speak for themselves. When his subjects speak for themselves, they cannot deny what they've said. When clips from "The Daily Show" feature subjects caught contradicting themselves, this is the ultimate expose; what is said is real and cannot be refuted. Stewart's work is fair in that he often simply features and juxtaposes different clips, and biased in that he asserts his own opinions when framing the pieces, then fair again in that no one is exempt from his scathingly funny commentary. If only the mainstream media could be this focused on the unabashed portrayal of truth (which is often just reporting on what people said verbatim, instead of twisting it or presenting it out of context or inaccurately). Yes, the truth often hurts (especially those shown continually contradicting themselves), but when delivered with comedy, it is somehow much more palatable yet still very factual and worthwhile.
