The campaign also lashed out at the media and called for an end to questions about Palin's background and her family. Senior campaign adviser Steve Schmidt decried what he called a "faux media scandal designed to destroy the first female Republican nominee" for vice president.

Touchy, aren't we? It's okay to bring up a quote Joe Biden used in a speech in the 1980s without attributing it--even though he had previously. But it's not okay to question whether Sarah Palin is qualified to be president when her running mate would be the oldest man to be sworn in to the office. We all just heard of the woman yesterday. We'd like to know more about her. The press has an obligation to tell us. And the McCain campaign just better get over it.
