Time to Get Out of Afghanistan

We’re Not Winning. It’s Not Worth It.

After nearly nine years of war, however, continued or increased U.S. involvement in Afghanistan isn’t likely to yield lasting improvements that would be commensurate in any way with the investment of American blood and treasure. It is time to scale down our ambitions there and both reduce and redirect what we do. Full Story »

Good policy-level analysis of the problems with the Afghanistan campaign from an expert source familiar with the policies of both presidential administrations responsible for this war. Conspicuously absent is any mention of the mineral wealth recently admitted to be found there, and how that might affect U.S. strategy.

A good review of Afghan situation by Richard Haass. As a past Washington inserder, he told us what discussions were held on to fix Afghan War, what worked, what not and why etc. He also sugessted three options for future. The most revealing is his concluding chapter. Good to read and review.

This time I was successful in reviewing the story. Thanks to the NewsTrust team for helping me to overpower. Well, I'm sorry for pushing the tail first before the head to pierce.

Fairly comprehensive review of why the US effort in Afghanistan is failing. Haass mighjt also have mentioned the fact the US is simply the wrong country to have a large military presence in Afghanistan, because the US is too easily portrayed as an "occupier" and as the "enemy of Islam" due to foolsih support for Israeli oppression of the Palestinians.

Stability in Afghanistan cannot be achieve without substantial help from Iran, but the Israel lobby blocks any consideration of this avenue. Instead, the US is hostile to the country trying to keep the Taliban from retruning to power in Kabul! Incredible.
