From deToqueville on, foreigners have often been the most accurate observers of our culture. Burston continues this tradition with a frighteningly accurate analysis of the American psyche. Aside from the odd habit of referring to himself as "the foreign visitor," this is a pretty stinging critique of why we find ourselves in the messes we do.
