The article runs counter to the corporate pro-war press deification of POWs, implying they should never be criticized or challenged as humans functioning in some other role. The history of the Vietnam war, and McCain's role flying a bomber shows he followed orders, but wanted to bomb more civilians. For the current generation of voters who do not have a vivid historical memory of the VietNam war, the history here provides a quick refresher. Sir, No Sir and Winter Soldier provide some interesting documentary on the war.
