One thing that we Americans have to do is quit saying that we are in Iraq to defend America. It has nothing to do with patriotism, and it is not unpatriotic to state the obvious truth. A true patriot loves his country enough to say when his country is wrong. Full Story »

The author quite rightly invokes George Orwell's warnings about state deception of the people through calculated abuse of the language. I agree with the author that the invasion of Iraq had little or nothing to do with protecting national security, and that the continued squandering of hundreds of billions of dollars of US taxpayer funds, is not for the purpose of protecting America. These are but cover stories, intended to deceive.
