Obama's attack dog: Outspoken Biden joins the Democratic ticket

Barack Obama's campaign for the White House was back in its groove yesterday, when he called upon the political equivalent of Big Bertha by naming Senator Joe Biden to be his vice-presidential running mate.

A fair story. While it doesn't present much depth, it is accurate. Biden certainly can wear the mantle of straight talk as well as McCain--and lately, a bit beter. And other articles have fairly characterized him as Barack's attack dog. He'll be good at that too, allowing Obama to stay above the fray where he wants to be, without letting the GOP savage him as they clearly intend to. As for the ads about what Biden said about Obama, remember when George H.W. Bush called Reagan's plans "voodoo economics"? And then went on to be his vice-presidential pick? Happens all the time folks. I'm sure John Edwards said things about John Kerry too. And Clinton about Obama. And Romney about McCain. Happens when you're running against each other.

As a long-time fan of Joe Biden, I had thought the best ticket was Biden/Obama but recognized that was unlikely. This piece captures the reasons Biden supporters and those wanting victory in November who are not Biden supporters, will welcome his selection.

Excellent piece. This covers who Joe Biden is in a clear, succint way, and also analyzes the pros and cons of an Obama, Biden ticket.
