Why is Israel suddenly praising Iran sanctions?

Just before Iran and the international community begin talks on Iran's nuclear program, Israel is sending out messages of measured and cautions optimism. Israeli official are praising the proposed sanctions against Iran to journalists, explaining that a stiff cost could prompt the Iranians to rethink their actions, especially in light of the domestic troubles the regime of ayatollahs has faced over the past few months. One weakness of this story is its effort to portray as fact, the opinion that Iran is secretly trying to develop nuclear weapons (as opposed to the ability to do so on short notice). Bob Gates has no proof Iran actually is trying to build nukes.

I think the real issue should be whether Iran will allow adequate tranparency of its nuclear program, recognizing the Iranians have reason to object to being forced to do numerous things that Israel is exempted from.
