Data From Checkpoints To Be Kept for 15 Years

The federal government has been using its system of border checkpoints to greatly expand a database on travelers entering the country by collecting information on all U.S. citizens crossing by land, compiling data that will be stored for 15 years and may be used in criminal and intelligence investigations. the story is missing some important ingredients including information about what the public comments would be used for and information on where/how to place them. also theres not enough clarity about states opting to use the less-data method and whether or not public comment involves states. an official from canada was named, but others with reservations were lumped into 'privacy advocates' which i believe in a story lessens greatly the impact of what's stated
