NBC coverage gives a narrow view of China

Many journalists in China, including USA TODAY's Christine Brennan, have written about the sterile atmosphere on the Olympic Green in the first week caused by the Chinese government's aggressive security measures. I begin this op-ed intrigued by the angle -- that NBC has sacrificed breadth and quality of coverage for the right to cover the Beijing Olympics. But I leave it thinking the author could have made a much stronger case with more research and stronger evidence. Perhaps it's an issue of length. If USA Today would have budgeted another 300-500 words the issue could have been examined more thoroughly.
