the author suggests the reporting from the West back off an almost complete condemnation of the chinese government pointing out that a nationalistic view of its competitors in the olympics is not limited to china and happens in the countries of the west as well. i often felt disappointment watching our own tv coverage of past games, for ignoring others' athletes even gold medal winners. the author also points out that, for complex historical and cultural reasons, the chinese people are not so unhappy with their government as we are. what's missing here are enough specific facts and information to support his opinion, more important here as it's not mainstream or majority. his advice however to try to understand not lecture as means to having more influence has wisdom
