This excerpt from St. Clair's book takes one nuclear power plant and documents the many breakdowns, emergencies, and potential hazards beyond these that are the story of nuclear power. The documenting of these events and concerns is critically timely at a time when McCain is strongly advocating building large numbers of new reactors. The profits would be privatized and the risks would be socialized, so McCain and the big nuclear power corporations that would eat from the trough claim there is no danger. The voters need to educate themselves on the risks, since the military-industrial-media complex seem to be willfully denying the risks.
