Most of the polls frame the issue as though it were a problem of "energy independence" or of dealing with the "rising cost of gasoline." But the energy problem is much more complicated.

I love it! Not only does Drum demonstrate that polling can incorporate nuance and intelligence, but that journalism can too. Like the chicken and the egg question, this makes me wonder if Americans want black and white answers to everything because we're told we do, or if we're told we do because we really do. At any rate, I found the comments as interesting and intelligent as the article--which tells me something about the column and the readers it attracts. Congrats to Drum.
