What does the solution look like?

I've heard it said that, if all you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail. Surgeons are notorious for recommending surgery for just about any ailment. There are probably more examples of this. But the idea is that every person looks for a solution within the realm of our own experience.

This is a well written opinion piece that relates each presidential candidate's approach to international relations to the hammer and nail story. The analogy seems well suited to McCain's support for war but seems to me to be a stretch for Obama. The alternative to war isn't so much writing new laws as it is diplomacy and a progressive and enlightened foreign policy.
