Hullabaloo

The idea is to create the connection between large crowds and enthralled supporters in the 1930s and in the Obama campaign today. And that is meant to induce feelings of revulsion and shame, not just in those voters who are more passive and see these images on television, but among the very participants themselves. The Right calling the progressive Left "Fascist" has to be an ultimate irony. There is considerable evidence that fascism is gaining traction in the US and Britain (both countries' religious right wings have always shown a taste for it), but to claim that it comes from the Left is Orwellian Doublespeak. Few in the US actually know what fascism is. To those I recommend "The Anatomy of Fascism" by Prof. Robert O. Paxton, the standard work.
