The article quotes authorities extensively, and the science appears valid. The only difficulty might lie in the tendency of acid rain, or acidic wet soils, to erode the lime content of the cement and weaken it, as anyone knows who has seen limestone caves or formations.

Using different technologies in making concrete as a way to take greenhouse gasses (CO2--carbon dioxide) out of the air is a fascinating idea; getting this idea out and published is one of the article's strongest points. Overall, however, the piece is almost uni-dimensional in explaining the pros/cons and possibility/impossibility of new proposed technologies. The reporter needed to dig deeper and get more facts and quotations from the sources. He also needed to bring in differing viewpoints: how would the construction industry view building with these new types of concrete? Is it more expensive, and if so, would higher building costs be eventually passed down to consumers/home buyers? There is much more to the story here, and ... More »
