Truthout links to a WaPo http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/07/23/AR2008072301437.html?hpid=topnews investigation regarding allegations that auditors were intimidated by their supervisors to change their audits to make them more favorable for contractors. Excellent journalism providing sources from both sides and the comment section on the WaPo website is full of responses from former auditors. The GAO report does not name the contractors but WaPo interviews Senate Committee staff who indicate it includes Boeing, Northrup Grumman, Fluor, and others. The number of defense contractor auditors under Bush decreased by about 40%. This is another example of the lack of regulation resulting in tax payerÂ’s money going to make big companies wealthier.
