I highly recommend National Geographic's excellent TV series, Earth - The Biography, which provides in a compelling way many of the complex interactions which make life on earth possible. . This particular episode offers extensive factual evidence, supported by multiple authoritative sources, to help us better understand how global warming can impact our environment and society (see also the episode on Oceans for more info on that topic). I have learned more from these programs than I had originally expected. Though the host sometimes dramatizes his presentation to make it more accessible to a broad audience, I find his information to be very credible and consistent with other reports I have read on this topic.
