Will MSM Report on 2008 Arctic Ice Increase?

Good news! Despite the recent global warming alarmism in the media that Arctic ice might melt away completely from the North Pole this summer, the latest scientific observations show that Arctic ice has actually increased by nearly a half million square miles over this time last year. This is in stark contrast to the Chicken Little hysteria that was being promoted less than a month ago on the CBS Early Show as reported by Kyle Drennen on June 27 here in ... Full Story »

It is not news to take a scientific study and cunningly find one sentence you can twist to support your preconceived belief and ignore the rest of the study which has a very different conclusion than the findings reported in this tabloid. Fabrications like this are unconscionable and are deliberately done to promote a political agenda. They do not have the scientific facts to support their agenda and are reduced to twisting news stories in hopes that people will not check the facts or understand what the scientific merits are. Please take a look at the original study posted by the National Snow and Ice Data Center and read the conclusions and look at the graph. I have posted the link below and also take a look at CNN today that ... More »

Newsbusters is a right-wing propaganda rag that is so often full of distortions omissions, and/or outright LIES. While there might be a slight uptick in ice in July, I found the trend lines in the National Snow and Ice Data Center referenced article negates Gladnick's attack on the basic premise of the Arctic Ice problem. I found the Conor quote to be deceptive and taken out of context. Two paragraphs further down we find: "Seasoned polar scientists believe the chances of a totally ice-free North Pole this summer are greater than 50:50...." I'll get my global warming stories fro more reputable sources.

"It's cold today, so obviously global warming is a scam!" Like a person who makes this argument, the author of the article ignores long term global warming trends. Additionally, the title and first paragraph greatly exaggerate the finding of the NSIDC report he cites. Here are a few findings from the report: "The pattern that has dominated the summer of 2008, so far, seems less favorable for ice loss [than 2007]. However, the melt season has a long way to go. Furthermore, as discussed above, large areas of the pack ice with fairly low concentrations are likely to melt out soon." And: "The current pattern of sea ice retreat is noticeably different than last summer, with some areas showing less ice and others showing more."--this ... More »

A good summary, though somewhat narrow in focus. The point of the story is taken, and it is great news that the polar ice is increasing in square area instead of decreasing. Only further time will help prove global warming alarmism wrong.
