Guess Who's Coming to the Impeachment

Then the topic was altered. Rather than being about impeachment, the hearing will be about impeachment and other supposed remedies to a lawless presidency, with the bulk of the time devoted to those other remedies. Full Story »

This opinion piece maintains that inspite of an attempt by the leadership of Congress to bury the subject of a Bush impeachment, that subject will be front and center in upcoming hearings. The first paragraph asserts that there is public demand for impeachment hearings. While I have heard some calls for impeachment, I've heard nothing approaching public demand even though discussions of illegal Presidential acts abound. I don't doubt that some of the Representatives cited may push for impeachment but, on the whole, find this piece unconvincing.

The author could at least have pointed out that this constant focus on side issues has reduced the public opinion ratings of the Congress to the lowest levels ever.

I mean, my God the Repugs tried to impeach a Democratic president for lying about sex, for God's sakes. There is a sitting U.S. Senator from Idaho who propositioned a policeman in a public restroom, but the pervert is still in the Senate. Republicans have never had any credibility as far as I and millions of other Americans are concerned. I wish we had a few dozen more people ... More »
