Hunter is a lifelong Republican - a supply-side conservative. He worked in the Reagan White House. He was the chief economist at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce for five years. In 1994, he helped write the Republican Contract with America. He served on Bob Dole's presidential campaign team and was chief economist for Jack Kemp's Empower America. Some of his statements and arguments here come from that perspective, but his setting of priorities of foreign policy and the rule of law under the constitution do have universal appeal. He presents an interesting viewpoint.

A deeply personal piece, this is light on facts, but long on insight. As a personal opinion, it's interesting because of Hunter's background. I plan to post it to all my Democratic lists.

This opinion piece has minimal journalistic merit. It is no better than what 100,000,000 other voters could write up after chatting at the office. Why this one was picked is a mystery. The author does not even know that even Obama now considers the liberation of Iraq a success and is going there to celebrate.
