In my opinion, this is the worst kind of foul attempt at journalism. Polls at an earlier time had some usefulness as legitimate tools when properly "validated" and supported with other poll questions to allow the responders to sense the context of the question. Today polls are used to manipulate public perceptions ,control public discourse, and ultimately evoke the public action desired by what seems to be partisan backers of the polls A single question such as this in the way it is stated has no legitimate function in statistical analysis. In a question such as this, that big fuzzy ball "Congress" is inferred to be a single homogenous entity that can be evaluated by one question. From an "information" value perspective it is zero. There is no accounting for the causes of the dissatisfaction. The following context is missing: WHY? the Democrats (whom the entire face of the total congress is deceptively placed) the are not getting progress (on the items listed)based on the record number of filibusters by Republican legislators, by presidential vetos, by Democrats fearing to shake things up or not standing their ground, because lobby groups control the final votes regardless of party. A one nebulous question "red herring" such as this repeated over and over, lumps a lot of good and/or poor legislators of both parties into a sewer and most certainly manipulates opinion while giving zero context. Gallop obviously doesn't have a clue abuot statistical validation of polls (look it up). And it is destroying this nation with such garbage. I watch Congressional and Senate debates on c-span and there are many good public servants in both parties but just as many obstructionists. It's time the real story be told. Democracy is near DOA because of such irresponsible useless and deceptive polls.
