Good journalism...well, no I don't think so. I supported our invasion of Iraq for the purpose of removing Saddam Hussein--a monster we ourselves created in response to our desire to punish Iran. Saddam applauded the 9/11 attacks on America, and we knew he had access to biological and chemical weapons because we had provided him with same, though most stockpiles were apparently destroyed during the first Iraq war when we bombed the Kamisayeh weapons depot. The nuclear threat was exaggerated, yes; the biological and chemical weapons threat was not. I do not know of a single American president who has not spoken beyond his evidence in selling a strategy (economic or political), a war, or a change in national direction to the American people. The Left blindly goes on calling President Bush "the worst president in history," as though that were established fact. Kucinich's assertions notwithstanding, I have seen no point-by-point analysis that would support this position. The occupation of Iraq was bungled, and I condemn our sanction of torture, but let's not forget that our problem is one of national moral decline--President Bush is pretty representative of mainstream American thinking when it comes to his willingness to sanction torture. Just get him out of there and hope Obama can restore some balance.
