Another must read by Glenn Greenwald who discusses Mayer’s new book on how the war on terror turned into a war on American Ideals. Greenwald points out eloquently and factually that in a post 9/11 world America has become a lawless nation that tortures, lies, ignores facts, spies on its own citizens all so we can be ‘safe’ while the politicians and the media have allowed this to occur, even cheering it on. The war on terror has destroyed our fundamental national character, and the media portrays our leaders as “too Important and too Good to subject them to punishment when they break the law.”
