Iranians care about Persian Gulf much more than they care about Israel

Tehran knows that an Israeli strike on Iran is impractical if Israel wishes to continue existing, and that a nuclear attack on Israel would prompt Iran's destruction. It approaches the big picture by reminding us that the Iranians are an ancient people with a long history. It does not delve into the Eastern mindset, which is equally ancient, devious, prideful and violent. We would do well to understand this enemy better before we continue to threaten.

An enormous amount of the bloodshed of the last century was backed by claims of ancient histories and deep resentment about not being given due respect, to the point that the belligerents could feel land grabs, genocides, ethnic cleansings, etc., were justified. Would have been nice if he'd offered some specific advice, but maybe a warning is a good start. I hope someone follows up on this with decent sourcing.
