I do think one of the risks of fully electronic voting is that a small mistake can be magnified in scale all over the place because the touch-screen e-voting machines are all the same, they're all electronic, they all require power, and they all use computer code and a particular set of circumstances that could cause something bad to happen everywhere. Because this is an interview, it really only presents the point of view of the interviewee. But, because of his credentials, it's still a valuable and interesting viewpoint. I am glad to hear we've made so much progress on the issue and feel heartened by the new information he presents. A must read for anybody interested in the topic.

It's high time the compu wizes were asked their opinion of electronic voting and this article hits home. As a former programmer, I am very aware that if you tell me the answer you want, I can write a program to make the data come out that way. Careful reading will leave you with a cold shiver and a fear for the democratic processes future.

Good questions, but some of Rubin's answers are not focused on the questions. Some good points are made, and this gives a good overview. Only one viewpoint, not uncommon for an interview. Rubin could have used more numbers in some places.
