Excellent explanation of the current Iraqi quagmire with good sourcing and lots of stakeholders represented...this story presents a necessary solution for the Iraq situation --involving Iran and Syria -- but then contains a quote that points out the conundrum in a pointed and poignant fashion: "I'm saying it's required," he said. "I'm not saying it's possible."

This piece does an excellent job of reporting the dire situation in Iraq. Ellen Knickmeyer combines the opinions of regional leaders, and foreign policy experts, along with testimony of Iraqi Shi'as and Sunnis living through the sectarian strife, to show the depth of the Iraqi quagmire.
