Get Over it, Oil Grabbers! The Iraqis Want U.S. Out!

One of Dick Cheney's most preposterous comments amid a long political career of defying credibility and reality came before Donald Rumsfeld's "shock and awe" attacks were unleashed and American forces occupied Iraq.

"Our troops will be greeted as liberators!" Cheney confidently proclaimed.

Huh? Lots of information, no story. I get Hare thinks the New World Order guys are dangerous lunatics. And he gives examples of some of the dumb things they've done. But, other than that, this is a lot of invective and more loose ends than an old sweater.

The author is quite correct to emphasize the graphic truth of the situation in the Middle East, namely that most Iraqis and most other peoples in that region do not want a large American military force placed in the middle of the Iraqi oilfields. The US military presence causes more problems than it can even attempt to "solve" and it does appear that enabling oil contracts for major oil companies is a primary reason for the occupation. Readers of this story should keep in mind that the US was the largest purchaser of Iraqi crude under the UN sanctions that were imposed after the Gulf War. I also am a fan of T. E.
